About me...
I was born and raised in Rochester, N.Y. to public schoolteacher parents. I earned a B.A. in French and Spanish from The State University of New York, Stony Brook and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. After graduating, I moved to Paris, France where I taught English to French children and worked at the U.S. Embassy and Epson France before obtaining a French post-Master's degree in International Affairs. I then married my husband, a Frenchman, and worked for three years as the Marketing Manager of a Competitive Intelligence firm in Paris.
We moved to Houston in January, 1999 and I began working as a French teacher at Cypress-Ridge High School when it opened in 2002. I also taught EXCET and TOPT review classes to French teachers for about five years at the Region IV Education Service Center. I am SBEC certified in Special Education (EC-12), French, and principal/administrative. I am currently enrolled as a part-time student at The University of North Texas (Denton) and plan to earn a Graduate Academic Certificate in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis in 2012.
Parenting a child with a disability has given me the interest and desire to work with students with disabilities professionally. I have been cultivating skills in the area of behavior and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) for the past ten years, and have also presented several professional development courses on Autism for Cy-Fair ISD. In the spring of 2008, I began providing in-home and parent training for the district, a role I found to be incredibly rewarding. This year, my 9th at Cypress Ridge, I am thrilled to continue working with students in our Adaptive Behavior Program. It is my goal to help all of my students determine objectives for themselves and then reach their goals, whether they be academic, personal, or professional.
