This will be my sixth year teaching within Cy-Fair ISD and fifth year here at Cypress Woods. I currently teach AP (Calculus-Based) Physics and Physics-1 (K/H and L).
I am a native Ohioan originally from Cleveland, Ohio. I graduated from Olentangy High School outside Columbus, Ohio where I was a 3-year letterman in golf and a 2-year letterman in basketball. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of West Georgia where I majored in Geoscience (combination Geology and Geography) with a minor in Economics. I also played on the golf team. My specific core content within my major was in aerial photography, photogrammetry, satellite imaging, geographic information systems, and optics.
Before joining the team here at Cy-Woods, my career has had me in the aerial photography, satellite imaging, and document imaging arenas working in technical and consulting roles for leading companies such as Exxon, Kodak, IKON, Halliburton, as well as other consulting roles. I have had the excellent opportunity to experience many great things in the private and public sectors the past 20+ years and have also been able to travel to many places and I hope to bring those experiences to the classroom!
In my spare time, I run 5 to 7 kilometers 4 to 5 days a week and currently am in training to (possibly) run a mini-triathalon and compete in golf tournaments next summer for the first time in years. I try to go bowling a lot as it is an excellent example of translational and rotational motion, I have two daughters (one a junior here and the other a 6th grader at Spillane). Both are into Equestrian sports and we own an 8-year old thoroughbred horse. I still actively play golf and will get in a pick up hoops game where I can. I also am a club volleyball coach this year and used to be a competitive volleyball player in my younger days.
If you were listing to my I-Pod, you would find a lot of Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and a lot of other classic rock. You will also find a lot of Alternative 80s (not the 80s stuff you would hear on the radio)... I like a lot of The Smiths, Psychedelic Furs, The Talking Heads, Big Audio Dynamite, etc...
